Through years of experience in the
packaging industry, we recognized an opportunity to fill an
industry need for reasonably priced pre-owned packaging equipment. As a
plant engineer for H.J. Heinz for more than 10 years, in a high-speed production plant, I could see first hand the need for a supplier of this
type. Many projects would come and go. Equipment would often be
purchased and used for only a short time, depending on reaction to
new products in the market. |

There appeared to be a need for a small company that could cater to the
used and refurbished market, not only to provide less costly systems for
launching new products, but to utilize those well functioning systems
that were no longer required.
I later joined some of
the leaders in packaging equipment manufacturing. From basic carton
forming and closing, to very sophisticated packaging lines, these
companies were dedicated to building new equipment only, with little intention or desire to
rebuild or deal in pre-owned equipment. Their systems and size simply
didn't lend themselves to producing "one-off" solutions and addressing
random reconditioning needs, on a cost-effective basis.
I worked on
many projects around the world for these firms, and continued to
see a need for rental machines to serve test markets, new product
introductions and
companies whose packaging budgets were very limited. We've all
seen the "Mom and
Pop" shops and smaller producers that struggle to
compete, with limited resources.
We decided to start a
small dedicated company that could rebuild and refurbish carton formers
and closers, and in 2001 founded Monroe Machine Co., Inc. to do just
that.
Our focus, then and now, was to
provide rebuilt, pre-owned packaging equipment at a considerable
savings. This equipment could be rented to start with, and later
purchased if justified, to give producers total flexibility. My belief
was that this would allow both small and large companies alike to "test
the waters" during the introduction of new products, without the large
capital investment generally associated with a new product launch. We
could also offer supplemental capacity to producers whose current demand
exceeded their production resources, but who were also uncertain of
their long range requirements.
I'm pleased that Monroe Machine has
assembled a group of
talent with over 65 years of combined experience in Design,
Fabrication, Electrical Assembly and Line Installation relating to
packaging machinery. We employ state-of-the-art Solidworks software for
our engineering designs and AutoCAD line layouts to achieve a high level
of compatibility and efficient communications with our
clients.
We'd be delighted to have an
opportunity to address your packaging needs.
